IT'S A BOY!!!!!

We got an amazing Christmas present. On Christmas night, we received a phone call from Taiwan. There were a lot of suprises in that phone call. First of all, it was much sooner than we had expected. Secondly, our little boys is not an infant as we had expected. He is 2 1/2 years old. Of course, God rarely does what we think we want or what we expect to happen. He has His own plan and own timing. Thirdly, the call was not from the missionaries that we had expected to receive a referral from. We have been working with Morning Light Children's Home for about 8 months now. That is who we eventually expected to get a referral from. God had a different plan though. A little over a year ago, we applied with other missionaries in Taiwan. They had told us that they work primarily with childless couples so we started to search out other ways to adopt from Taiwan. That is when we met the wonderful missionaries from Morning Light and got on their waiting list. As I said, God rarely does what we expect and He never ceases to amaze me. We never expected to hear from the Home of God's Love again because they prefer to match children with childless couples. When they called, we were floored. They said that they still had our information and when this little boy came available, God put our family on their hearts. We prayed about him and discussed what it would mean for our family to adopt a 3 year old. It also meant that we would have to update our homestudy to accept a child his age. We felt God telling us though that this was our son. He is the child that He has chosen for our family. When we got his picture, we just knew he was ours. HE LOOKS JUST LIKE OLIVIA! Wow! It is amazing to think that God knew when he created these two children that they would one day be brother and sister, so he formed them to look alike. If someone looked at them and didn't know they were born in different countries, you would say that they were biological brother and sister. They are almost exactly 2 years apart. Wei-Jywun was born on April 5, 2006 and Olivia was born on April 12, 2004.

We were told that as soon as they have our approved homestudy, it will be about a 4 month process to bring our son home. He will be living at the Home of God's Love until we travel to bring him home. Please pray that it will be a smooth process to update our homestudy and immigration paperwork to be able to adopt him. Please also pray that the court process in Taiwan and approval with AIT is without road blocks. Also pray that we are able to save the rest of the money needed to bring our son home. We plan to name him Isaac. We choose this name because of the Isaac in the Bible and how he became a part of Abraham and Sarah's family. He was named Isaac, which means laughter, because it brought them laughter to think that God would bring them a child in their old age. Our Isaac has also brought us laughter when we think of how God has so miraculously brought our son to us. It just goes to show that nothing can stop God from placing a child with the family that he has choosen.

Here is a picture of our new son Isaac and our daughter Olivia. Isaac is 2 years old and Olivia is 4 years old.
