FLEECE BLANKETS FOR SALE - I am making these to raise money for our adoption.

I have started making fleece blankets to help us raise money for the adoption. These blankets are very warm. They are double fleeced with tied fringes. THEY ARE SO CUTE! I made one for Olivia and when a friend of mine saw it, she said, "WHERE DID YOU GET THAT! IT IS SO CUTE!" I told her that I made and she asked if I could make one for her daughter for Christmas. Below you will see a picture of the one I made for my friend's little girl. She in turn told her mother-in-law and another one of her friends. I then had two more orders. I now have a total of 7 blanket orders in a wide variety of sizes and designs. The cost of the blankets depend on the size of the blanket and on the cost of the material that you choose. Final Homestudy Visit

We had our final homestudy visit with our social worker on Monday. It went very well. This visit was for her to interview us one more time and to view our home to make sure that it would be a safe and happy home for another child. The social worker was very nice and made us feel very comfortable. The visit lasted for an hour and a half. There are just a few more pieces of paperwork that are needed to be completed and then she can write up the homestudy report. After she does that we will get a rough draft to review and so will the missionaries in Taiwan that are helping us to adopt a baby. After we ok everything, the social worker will send the final draft of the homestudy to DHS in our state for approval. From there it will be sent to the US Immigration office on Memphis, Tennessee. We hope to be filing our immigration paperwork within the next few weeks. Once that is filed and they receive our approved homestudy and our FBI fingerprints, they will issue us the 171H. This is the form that will be needed when we travel to Taiwan. Without this piece of paper, our baby will not be able to get a visa to come to the US. Please pray that all of this goes smoothly and without any glitches.

Online Parenting Class for Adoption Completed

We finally finished our online parenting classes that are required for our adoption. I was dreading it at first, but both of us really enjoyed it. It was a class on international adoption, of which we have already been through one, so I thought it would be boring. We actually had a good time taking it. Although a lot of it was things that we already knew, it was a great refresher course for us on things like attachment, bonding, sleeping and eating habits, adjusting to a new home, and separation from previous caregivers. We also learned some things. It talked about siblings issues which is new to us since Olivia is an only child. We also learned about issues with adopting more than one child at a time, which is something we are considering. We got some new tips on helping our new child deal with attachment issues. I wish we had gone through something like this with our last adoption. We would have been more prepared for issues we faced with Olivia rather than having to learn them the hard way. Anyway, we are glad to have this next step completed so that we can move on.

Next Monday is our final homestudy visit with our social worker. After the visit, she will write up our homestudy and send it to the state for approval. Then it is off to US immigration. I will post again Monday night to let everyone know how the homestudy visit went.
